Drop The Pilot(s)

The Bionic Woman

Hang on, isn't that Zoe Slater from Eastenders? She looked rough as a badger's arse...what happened? And didn't the actress go a bit mental or something? Inexplicable casting aside, this re-imagining of a once great TV show is...rubbish. Sure they lured me in with a couple of guest stars from the awesome Battlestar Galactica, but everything in this stinks. From the worthy scenes of Jamie Slater sorry Sommers with her deaf teenage sister, to the inserts of Jamie tending bar unconvincingly. Hopefully cancelled, with a return to Albert Square for the girl with the dodgy accent.

Back To You

Kelsey Grammer is...Frazier again. Kindof. But he works in TV instead of radio. And he hasn't got a posh brother. The jokes the same, the dialogue pretty much the same, it's like he was never away. Effortless, but occasionally tiring, this will fill up Friday night Channel 4 without a problem.

Journeyman

Like Quantum Leap but without the funny sidekick. And because this is 21st century television the camera's a bit shaky and the plot isn't clearly explained for ages. I grew into this though, and if you can forgive the time-travel-nerd-questions that pop up constantly, it's pretty good. Kevin McKidd, who was great recently in Rome is the lead, and makes a pretty good fist of it. Oh and his dead ex-girlfriend is a FOX. Yes, I said that out loud. As I was typing.

Gossip Girl

I'm such a sucker for this shit. It's billed as OC-like..hmmmm. I can sortof see why they'd want those kind of audiences, but it's nothing like it. Posh rich kids are horrible and bitchy to each other apart from the attractive lead girl who has a good heart and looks sadly somewhere past the cameraman's left shoulder. In a nutshell. Where was Joshua Jackson when the casting was being done, this needs a little heart in it. There are no silences in Gossip Girl, just track after track from the no-doubt-soon-to-be-released album of 'music from and inspired by'...Don't be fooled by my cynicism though, I shall of course be watching the entire series, just like I did the admittedly awful Hidden Palms. Pray for me.

Was considering The Bionic Woman for a while, but i've read in lots of places that it's shit silly.

But then, when has that ever stopped me from watching TV?
